Patty Lou's Smashburgers

Patty Lou's Smashburgers, Plano, TX 2026

10" x 30" interior ceiling

This mural blends retro motifs with modern style and color to tell a refreshing visual story of the showlife of Patty Lou- the restaurant's namesake! Patty Lou is the owner's mother and was the lead singer/songwriter for her all girl band in the 1940's to early 50's. A trailblazer for women in music during her time, 'Patty Lou and Her Texas Sweethearts' traveled across the US playing shows, often with reputable names in iconic venues.

In this mural, Patty Lou is front and center, strumming her guitar, leisurely lounging on a burger, with the vintage Patty Lou’s smashburger sign behind her. The KRLD radio tower is playing music and the frequency paves the way, literally and metaphorically, for Patty Lou’s roadtrip across the country to play her tunes with ‘Her Texas Sweethearts’. The iconic trio can be found driving along the way in the 1940’s yellow Buick Convertible, instruments in the back. Places Patty Lou played are called out along Route 66 and throughout the mural. The famous Longhorn Ballroom steer is featured alongside article headlines about Patty Lou’s band.
