PORTFOLIO

Hi! I’m Maddie McClintock
I’m an artist, designer, and entrepreneur, who graduated from the University of Arkansas in 2021 with a Bachelor of Arts Studio Design degree, an emphasis in Photography and Printmaking, and background in architectural design.
I founded and own a freelance business, MADDHOUSE Style LLC, that specializes in mural work and bright, bold art. I also currently work at Dillard’s Corporate Headquarters as a Menswear CAD Textile Designer.

As a creative business owner, I’ve curated & designed every element of the brand- including this website and our logo. The MADDHOUSE logo was hand drawn then chromed out in Photoshop. Process video below.

Murals
Murals are MADDHOUSE’s specialty and main freelance focus. I use interior/exterior acrylic Benjamin Moore paints.

MURAL PROCESS
Let me walk you through my ‘Ode to Arkansas’ project for Ledger Bentonville, a community co-working space, and the world’s first bikeable office building.
I was asked to create an Arkansas themed mural for them. I worked with the curator for theme and the interior design team for color palette.

Initial Idea Board
I start off all my projects with brainstorming, research, and a moodboard. This is the place to get all the thoughts and ideas gathered to decide the direction I want to take the project. I let it be messy- I can always clean it up later.

Official Moodboard
hand watercolored, digitally scanned in & edited. After consolidating my thoughts, deciding on themes, and finalizing the color palette, comes the ‘official moodboard’. This is the moodboard delivered to the client.

Mockups
I always mockup my murals in Procreate- an illustration program for iPads. I usually mock them up flat then render them onto the wall. This example is a first sketch and final mockup. Usually there’s a couple renderings/edits between the first and last.
TEXTILE DESIGN
I started making repeating (wallpaper) patterns for MADDHOUSE because I was excited about the versatility repeating patterns have with bringing art into functional spaces. This interest and work landed me a job at Dillard’s Headquarters this year as a CAD Textile Designer for their Menswear team.
At Dillards I create artwork for their menswear private labels, specifically for the brands Murano & Caribbean. Designs can range anywhere from repeating pattern work, placed panel designs, embroidery detailing, or lapel pins.
Original designs are created either from scratch digitally through Adobe Creative Suite or by hand- whether drawing, painting, or water coloring. We also edit existing bought prints (Although, all designs present here are original). All work gets taken through NedGraphics, a textile software that works in pixels & stitches.
Other responsibilities of this position are color matching physical materials to digital swatches, researching trends and materials, along with collaborating with other designers.
A more extensive textile gallery of my work at Dillard’s can be found at the button below. THE PASSWORD IS 2025.
‘Cityscape’ Button-Ups
The Cityscape Button Ups are the ‘Top Door’ contemporary pieces for Murano’s Spring city collections. These designs are inspired by researching the unique culture of each city. These cityscapes are based off Seville, Spain and the Saronic Islands of Greece.

STICKERS
Stickers are the cheapest, most fun way to get your art out into the world, in my opinion. I love sticking a sticker in every city I visit, so a little piece of me stays there.

GIF’s
I love bringing things to life- whether ideas to physical or illustrations to animations. These GIF’s are created through frame by frame illustrations.

’For My Next Trick, I Disappear!’ Painting & GIF
GIF’s can be used to create ‘augmented reality’. This painting is a 24” x 48” augmented painting- meaning if you scan it with the ARTIVIVE app on your phone, it activates and overlays the GIF, creating an augmented reality piece.
